Sit next to me my dear friend (13th of January 2010)
Press play in the window above to start streaming from YouTube. This is a visualization and original performance of traditional (?) song from Međimurje. I heard it from Teta Liza, famous traditional singer from Međimurje, but since I have't listened to it for quite some time, I bet that the variant I created last night is quite different. Anyhow, I miss several lines. The song is in a dialect of Croatian. Translated to English, it would be something like (only lines that I sing):
I haven't seen you in a while, you'll know it better.
The times have changed, we'we grown old.
We look as if we have stolen someone else's years.
Ah, pour it, don't sleep!
Knock it down, don't spare!
If you won't drink, you'll regret it
And already tomorrow
You may be sleeping underground.
I made the image for the video (see below) by montaging a photograph and quickly made background (bar) in PovRay. The main idea was to obtain some dim light, but the photo was not ideal for such purpose. In any case, had I had some more nerves, it could look much better.
Anyhow, that's how they do 3D wonders in movies these days. It is all combination od "really" shot footage and computer generated "background". It is important in that case that the lights and the properties of the camera are consistent in both worlds.
