Magnolia, 23rd of April 2017.

Magnolias signify the better part of the year. They bloom as soon as there is a chance, and their petals fall of quickly, much before most of the rest of the plant world wakes up. Although, there are some which are late, which do not hurry that much and appear much later, when the story about sun and the yellow light nears its end.

Magnolia is evolutionary ancient flower and it appeared before bees did. This one of mine (above) has not opened yet. It was painted on 16th of March this year. And the one below, hybrid >> magnolia soulangeana, was painted by master Redoute and published in Choix des plus belles fleurs (1827). I already wrote about Redoute when I painted >> hazelnut, >> rose and >> dahlia.
