Expedition (16th of November 2012)

It has been more than 10 years since I was intensely involved in digital music creation. I often remember all that sitting in front of an always inadequate computer with happiness. Huge soft earphones on my head, subwoofer, keyboard, cigs, red wine and a lot of enthusiasm about harmony and acoustic color and texture. It was before I got interested in baroque music, but it seems to me now that a certain "baroque" interest can be read in compositions I made in those times.

Of all I made in those times, perhaps the most relentless composition is "Expedition" which to me, even today sounds decently.

"Expedition" is a "minimal" piece which requires some patience, it does not act on music "receptors" on the surface, and it requires some attention and understanding. When I listen to it, I always see an expedition of brave polar explorers who clear their way towards mountains in the distance, covered with thick centennial snow (click on an arrow in the window above to start the streaming from YouTube).

With that image in my head I made the visualization for the composition.

mountains, snow, Pole

The video shows the mountains in the distance viewed through the eyes of a polar explorer who tiredly sways from one side to the other as he steps forward. The wind is howling, the coldness bites, and he, from his frozen brain, hears a soothing music which prepares him for the eternal dream in deep snow and ice. One could say that "Expedition" is a musical dream of a dying polar explorer. The last lullaby. Huh, when I say it in this way, it sound morbidly, but I nevertheless think that the music is nice.

This piece is best to listed to in good headphones.

In fact, why don't you check it for yourself.
