Alternative book cover of Problem of the observer

How do publishers decide upon a cover page? Well ... I don't get it, really. But the fact is that in the contracts I signed thus far, there was always a statement that reserved all the rights of the publisher to create the cover page. This is obviously important to them because there is a myth that the cover page sells the book. Perhaps this may well be true in the world of superficiality. The only problem is that the books I've written thus far were not ment for superficial people. Anyhow, the image that opened this post (above) is a proposal of the cover page that I gave to the publisher (Jesenski and Turk) for my book "Problem of the observer". Below is the cover page that was actually realized by the publisher.

Hah... I didn't like it at all in the beginning, especially since I am quite sensitive about my work. Later I somehow got used to that design, but you judge which one is better. It is interesting that red color seems to be in fashion. It is supposed to attract attention. A significant usage of red color and additional fireworks and "light show" can be also seen on the book cover that was made in Školska knjiga for my book "Universe as a jigsaw puzzle" (below).

This cover was also created on the basis of my graphical proposal that is shown in the image below. Here I am more convinced that my solution is better - fullerene is in a correct perspective, and the scene is somehow "thoughtful" and deliberately lacks the fireworks and turbulence that can be seen in the version created by the publisher. But... the times are turbulent also because we make them turbulent.
